About Voices for Ethical Exchange Spaces

Why We Are Here

How We Will Fix It

What We Are Doing

Children deserve safe, neutral spaces for visitation and exchange—places where adults are trained, respectful, and focused on the well-being of the child. When concerns about inappropriate conduct are raised, families should be heard, not dismissed or intimidated. Too often, speaking up can affect custody outcomes and leave parents feeling powerless. We believe accountability matters. If something feels wrong, document it, report it, and understand your right to appeal court decisions within the required time frame.

What We Are Doing

We are encouraging families to document every interaction and preserve accurate records when concerns arise inside exchange or visitation centers. This includes keeping written notes, saving communications, and working with qualified professionals such as attorneys or court reporters when appropriate. Complaints filed with the State of Tennessee Attorney General should receive a response and may help prompt review or corrective action. Families should also understand the appeals process and their legal options when decisions impact the safety and well-being of their children.

Exchange and visitation centers are often licensed or regulated as private businesses or security providers.

How We Will Fix It

We believe children involved in high-conflict custody disputes should have access to independent forensic psychological evaluation when concerns about emotional harm, manipulation, coercion, or inappropriate conduct arise. Early evaluation by a qualified forensic psychologist may help document a child’s condition, identify signs of trauma or pressure, and provide the court with objective professional findings before situations escalate further.

We also support stronger oversight and legislative reform requiring clearer standards, accountability, and child-focused protections in custody-related exchange and visitation situations.
